Reed diffuser fragrance load depends on the base, fragrance and performance you want. Many systems sit somewhere around 15 to 25 percent fragrance, but there is no universal number. The fragrance must remain compatible with the base and flow properly through the reeds. Start with the base supplier's guidance, confirm the relevant IFRA limit for the fragrance, then test evaporation rate, clarity and room throw before finalising the formula.

A diffuser fragrance needs to dissolve well in the chosen base, travel through the reeds and evaporate at a useful rate without separating or becoming excessively slow. Some heavy, resinous or highly coloured fragrances can behave differently from lighter compositions. The best test is the finished diffuser, because a fragrance that smells strong in the bottle may not travel effectively through reeds.

The answer may be a different base, a solubiliser, a change in alcohol or water balance, or a lower fragrance load. Shaking harder is not a formulation fix. If a product separates during storage, treat it as a compatibility problem and reformulate before sale.
